Alice walked into the common room, and stopped a few feet past the doorway. She looked around, holding her hand close to her chest. On her way back from the Great Hall, she had stopped by to retrieve the serum; which was now in a small bottle that was clasped in her hand by her chest. Stepping forward again, Alice surveyed the room. She didn't see anyone, they are all still probably down at dinner.' She held her hand out, and looked at the bottle. The light was catching it and made the clear liquid look at if it were shining.
Alice walked over to sit in her usual seat, when she sat down she held the small serum up to the light and watched as it sparkled; although, the sparkled was probably the glass from the bottle instead of the serum itself. Either way, Alice was impressed. Both in the potion and herself; the truth serum was one of the most difficult potions she had brewed. 'now ain't the time to be pattin' yourself on the back, Alice Lupine...' she told herself, slipping the potion into her robe pocket.

Karma made her way into the common room, arms loaded with Potion books and notes.
She had stayed after class to get some much needed help from the potions Professor, luckily he was one of those teachers who never made a student feel stupid for not getting it the first time and was always willing to help.
'I'll get it before OWLS, I have to.' she thought to herself as she sunk into her favorite chair, oblivious to the fact that Alice or anyone for that matter was in the room.Dropping her books on the coffee table in front of the chair, she rested her head upon the arm of the chair and closed her eyes, sighing. The sound of the lake gently swooshing against the windows of the common room was always a relaxing noise and although she loved how rowdy her housemates could be, no sound was sweeter when one had a pounding headache.

Alice looked over when she heard someone enter into the common room. It was Karma. She had her hands filled with what looked like study materials for potions class. She went over to her usual seat, dropped her books, and slouched down in her seat. she looks tired... Alice placed a nervous hand on the pocket that held the serum. maybe now ain't the best time... then again... she may be expecting it... She sat in silence, pondering whether or not to approach Karma about the serum. Alice looked around the room, it seemed like they were the only two. Now would be the best time, before other students would start piling into the common room. Taking a deep breath, Alice stood from her seat and walked over to Karma. "Um... Karma? I have something for you."

"Um... Karma? I have something for you."
A south southern drawl brought Karma back from the edge of sleep.
"Hmmm?" she blinked her eyes open, her brain catching up with what had been said, "Oh Alice!" Karma sat straight up, all previous signs of exhaustion gone.
"Is it done?" she asked, eyes aglow with excitement, practically on the edge of her seat

"Oh Alice!"Is it done?" Karma suddenly seemed so full of energy.
Alice couldn't help but smile at the excitement of Karma. She nodded, "Yes, it's finally done." Reaching into her left pocket, Alice retrieved the small glass vile. "Here it is, the Veritaserum." She held the bottle out in the palm of her hand.

Karma gently grabbed the bottle from Alice, holding between her thumb and forefinger, she twisted it this was and that, letting the light shine through. It was a perfectly clear liquid, if it wasn't for the weight of the bottle, you could have assumed it was empty.
"Alice, darling, your a genius. I'm not sure if I've told you that recently, but you are." she beamed up at her potion making friend.
Carefully handing the bottle back to her, she rubbed her own hands together, "Now, do we trick him into drinking it? Or make him sip from the bottle." she glanced around the empty common room, "We need more of an audience for sure."
The gears began working overtime in the little twisted mind of hers, "How much do we need? A drop?" she tilted her head and looked at the bottle with new appreciation. "Alice, I am thinking we have been thinking much too small." her face split open into a grin, "After we get Mop Head, let's take a trip down to the kitchens, what do you think?"

Karma took the bottle from Alice, and twisted it around. "Alice, darling, your a genius. I'm not sure if I've told you that recently, but you are." The compliment made Alice smile even more. Alice took the small vile back when Karma handed it back to her.
"Now, do we trick him into drinking it? Or make him sip from the bottle." We need more of an audience for sure." Alice nodded slowly, listening carefully. "Well, the easiest way would be to pour it into his drink. The serum is colorless and odorless, and it'll only take about three drops." She said, reciting what she remembered reading about the serum.
"Alice, I am thinking we have been thinking much too small." After we get Mop Head, let's take a trip down to the kitchens, what do you think?" Alice's smiled faltered slightly, as Karma's grin grew. She felt a small pang of guilt; realizing that she hadn't really thought all of this through fully. "Karma... Somehow, I don't think that is such a good idea..." Alice said slowly. The use of the serum on a student was illegal, which meant that pouring it in the food and water supply would probably get them expelled, at least.

Karma stood up, "And why not?" she asked her housemate, hands on her hips, "There is so much we can do with this, think of the possibilities!" her grey eyes meeting Alice's blue, "Tell me one good Slytherin reason why we shouldn't use this potion to our advantage? At the rate we are going, we will lose the House Cup! Don't you think we need every advantage?"
She looked the southern belle up and down, 'when did you lose all your nerve? and where was I when it happened?' she thought to herself, wondering what was going through her mind

"And why not?" There is so much we can do with this, think of the possibilities!" Alice knew there were so many things that they could use this potion for, but there was the biggest downfall to it--they would most certainly get expelled. "Tell me one good Slytherin reason why we shouldn't use this potion to our advantage? At the rate we are going, we will lose the House Cup! Don't you think we need every advantage?" She knew that Karma was right, they needed every advantage they could get.
Karma looked her up and down, and could only imagine what Karma was thinking about her right now. ...there's so much to go wrong... and what would father say if he found out..."
"We would get expelled from school," she thought about it for a minute, before slowly and quietly adding "If we're caught..."

"If we get caught." Karma echoed, wriggling her nose, "If we get caught..." she said it again, slower, as if feeling the weight of every syllable. Taking a moment, she seemed to consider her next words very carefully. "True, there is a risk of being caught," she began, "But don't you think the rewards are worth it?" her thoughts started tumbling out faster, " If we pull this off, we will be living legends among our house. No one would ever doubt us again!" she was pacing now, waving her hands in the air, obviously excited about the plans forming in her head, "That's what will make it mean something. Nobody ever achieved anything great without risking something....'" she trailed off and whipped around to face the other girl, in her rant she had made her way to the fireplace. Standing in front of it, the light and shadows gave her an unearthly, wild look "Don't you think that is worth any price? Glory? Power? What else is there?"

"But don't you think the rewards are worth the risk?" If we pull this off, we will be living legends among our house. No one would ever doubt us again!" Alice listened, and hung on her every word almost. In a way, Alice knew that what Karma was correct; yet, there was still that little voice telling her that something could and would go wrong. "Don't you think that is worth any risk? Glory? Power? What else is there?" Alice wasn't really concerned with the power, or glory; although... father... he would be pleased with it.... so long as we don't get caught... Alice realized that is what she had to do, ...it WILL please him....power and glory...right?
Finally, Alice nodded slowly, "How would we make sure we're not caught? And would the one vile be enough?"

"This will take some planning." Karma murmured in response to Alice's question. "We will need to figure out WHAT to put it in," she began pacing again. "Do we focus on individuals? Or groups? And then of course we will need a distraction, something to keep the house elves looking in the other direction..."
"Maybe we should focus on groups." she nods her head as if agreeing with herself, "And I bet it will be easier to put this in orange juice or milk. Some kind of beverage." she stopped pacing and turned back to Alice, "Ok, that will be step one, tomorrow we will keep an eye out, see which beverage our fellow school mates drink more of."

Alice watched as Karma began to pace back and forth. They were really going to do this, weren't they? She nodded to Karma, surveillance would definitely be needed to accomplish this. "The serum is odorless and colorless," she explained again, "It's also tasteless... If need be, we could just slip it into the water supply..." Alice added, chuckling slightly. She walked over to a bookshelf, and grabbed an Advanced Potions Making book, before walking back over to Karma. Alice opened the book and began reading over the Veritaserum. "It says that three drops in someone's drink will cause them to spill all their darkest secrets... We may need more of the serum..."

Karma bit on the tip of her thumb, "But it took you so long to make...." she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. "Your right. It's not worth doing if we don't do it right. What do you need me to do?"
Alice had already made one potion on her orders, 'I have no idea what it took to do that, to make even more... Merlin. We have some work to do! She grinned wickedly, eager to start.

"I need more ingredients... Mostly Jobberknoll feathers... Which may be slightly difficult to get a hold of..." Alice said slowly, still reading out of the book. "All the other ingredients, I can get fairly easily... It's just the feathers..." She turned a page, and looked up from the book to Karma, whom was now smiling wickedly. "Also, we'll need to get the ingredients fairly soon. It takes an entire lunar circle to complete just one potion, and..." Alice reached into her pocket, and retrieved the small vile; holding it out in her hand, "And it only makes about this much..."
